Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Energy confirmed his participation at TIOGE with a presentation called: Turkmenistan and the EU: why we need an increased cooperation in the field of energy? there will be a delegation form EU Commission visiting the event.

The ITE Group has signed an agreement with the Ministry of the Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan to organise the TIOGE Conference, which will take place on 14-15 November 2007 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan .

The TIOGE conference is in its twelfth year and is the only conference for the oil and gas industry in Turkmenistan. The event will add to the group's already extensive portfolio of international and regional oil and gas exhibitions and conferences which span nine countries: Algeria, Azerbaijan, China, Equatorial Guinea, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Russia, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Major industry events organised by the group include MIOGE (Moscow, Russia), KIOGE (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and Caspian Oil & Gas (Baku, Azerbaijan).

Turkmenistan borders Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea. It has the fourth largest reserves of gas after Russia, USA and Canada. Recently, a joint declaration was issued by the governments of Turkmenistan, Russia and Kazakhstan on the construction of a new gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Russia.

Over the last few months, a number of international companies have also shown interest in developing Turkmenistan's oil and gas reserves.
